Back pain, is it new mattress or pillows?

Hey vaironl,

Welcome to The Mattress Underground  ! Nice to e-see you and thanks for your question.

Congrats on your new mattress purchase! Thanks for including the Wolf Creek mattress specs, an all-foam mattress using memory foam as comfort material. What type of mattress were you using prior to your new mattress and how old was it? Is this your first memory foam mattress experience? The pillows could be part of the problem. If they are older and worn, they may not be providing the correct loft for keeping your head and neck in proper alignment for your combination sleeping positions. If this is your first memory foam mattress, you may still be adjusting to the unique “dead feeling” of a slow-response foam. You can learn more about memory foam’s viscoelastic properties from Phoenix’s article, “Mattress Comfort Layers-Memory Foam”. I’m sorry to hear that you both continue to have back pain. It may be worthwhile for you to photograph the other in your preferred sleeping positions, noting how your body aligns itself with the pillows you are using and checking for proper alignment. I discussed this process in an earlier post today, you can see a graphic discussing alignment here. Hope this helps some, and good luck with your new mattress  .
