I have talked with Bill at A Better Bed in Fresno and you can see my comments about them in post #2 here.
If the Santa Cruz manufacturer you are mentioning is http://www.baybed.com/ then yes I think very highly of them and Dan the owner and they are also an invited member of this site which means that I believe they are among the best choices available in the country. A forum search on baybed (you can just click this) will also bring up more posts and feedback about them.
