Comfort Bedding NYC

Hi Phoenix,
I was wondering if you are familiar with the company by the name of Comfort Bedding based in Brooklyn,NY.

I am interested in the following mattress and would value your opinion.

http://www.comfortbeddinginc.com/itemdetails.asp?mod=950

It seems to be made along the line of the Saatva mattress only with pocket coils also in the base layer. I saw the mattress today and it seems well made. i like the idea of microcoils.

Thanks,
Rory

Hi R2D2,

Yes I am familiar with them and they were on one of the earlier New York lists on the forum here but at the time when I talked with them they told me that they are wholesale only and offered little information (and were quite confused) about their mattresses and the quality of the materials inside them so I removed them from subsequent lists (because they weren’t factory direct and didn’t provide the information about their mattresses that make informed buying choices possible).

When I talked to them just now however I talked with someone else that appeared to be a bit more knowledgeable and they told me that they did have a factory direct showroom in Brooklyn and while about 90% of their business is wholesale to retailers … they do a small amount of factory direct sales as well. They also provided me with some basic information about their mattresses which are mostly lower end basic basic innerspring / polyfoam mattresses. They use 1.2 to 1.8 lb polyfoam which is a range from low end to the bottom of the higher quality range (1.8 lbs) both one and two sided and said that they would provide the construction details and density information about all the foam in their mattresses if you were there in person and asked. I would consider them if I was in the market for a basic low to mid range mattress and of course I would make sure that they provided me with the details of all the layers and components of their mattresses. The layer details and types of innersprings they use are mostly on their website but you would need to find out any missing information including the foam density of any of their mattresses you were considering to make meaningful comparisons with other mattresses.

The one mattress they carry that has two pocket coils in the description here wasn’t clear that one of them was a microcoil in the 5" eurotop but this is probably the case in which case it would be a similar design to the Saatva yes (except it uses a pocket coil for the innerspring rather than the Bonnell coil that Saatva uses)

Thank you Phoenix,

They do seem to be on the lower end of the spectrum. I couldn’t figure out anything from their site. I think I’ll give them a miss.

I am intrigued by micro coils and would love a Berkley Ergonomics Stockholm but unfortunately it is out of my league.

Do you have any other suggestions.

Thanks again.

Hi R2D2,

I don’t keep a record of all the specific designs of mattresses made by each manufacturer that are available in each area (which would be an impossible job in a changing market in any area much less across the country) but off the top of my head Restonic, Therapedic, King Koil (comfort solutions), Stearns & Foster, Lady Americana, and Eclipse are a few of the larger manufacturers I can think of off the top of my head that make some mattresses with comfort layers that use microcoils in combination with various other materials that may be available in your area that you could test. You would need to check each of their website retail locators or call them to find out who carries their brand that is close to you and then call the individual retailers to see if any of them carried any of their microcoil models for you to test.

Sleepy’s also seems to have several in their Castle Collection that shows up on a google site search although they don’t show up on a search on the Sleepy’s site itself so I don’t know if they still carry them.

Phoenix

Thanks Phoenix. I really appreciate your help.
