Convoluted polyfoam base in Brooklyn Bedding's #BestMattressEver

Hi RobT,

I’ve only been researching mattresses for a few days, but I’m somewhat surprised to see convoluted foam used as a base layer on this product. Most base layers seem to be solid foam. Is this typical?

It’s not typical or atypical and it’s just part of the design choices that contribute to the overall feel and performance of a mattress. Tempurpedic for example (as well as many other manufacturers) also use convoluted foam in their base layers as a way to improve ventilation and change the “feel” of the mattress.

You can read a little more about convoluted layers in post #2 here.

Interestingly enough they even have their own convoluting machine in their factory which is rather unusual … even for a manufacturer.
