Eve Mattress

Hi paddyb,

While the Eve mattress isn’t available in North America so it isn’t listed … you can see my comments about these types of claims that are very common with the new “breed” of what I call simplified choice mattresses in post #1 here in the simplified choice topic.

The short answer is “no” and these types of claims are exaggerated but since most of these mattresses are in the firmness range that is in the middle of the bell curve that would be suitable for the largest group of people (similar to a hotel mattress) … you will generally find that any one of these mattresses will be the “best” match (in their budget range) for a relatively small percentage of the population, a “good” match for a larger percentage, and an “OK” match for a larger percentage yet. While the only reliable way to know which group you fit in will be based on your actual experience when you actually sleep on the mattress … for those where the mattress isn’t a “good enough” match (either too firm, too soft, or where you experience “symptoms” when you sleep on the mattress) then they all have a great return policy that lets you start all over again with choosing another mattress with little risk outside of the time you spent trying the mattress or returning it.

There is also more about the 3 most important parts of “value” of a mattress purchase in post #13 here which can help you make more meaningful quality/value comparisons between mattresses in terms of suitability (how well you will sleep), durability (how long you will sleep well), and the overall value of a mattress compared to your other finalists based on suitability, durability, and all the other parts of your personal value equation that are most important to you (including the price or course and the options you have available after a purchase)

Outside of PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and your Personal preferences) … the most important part of the value of a mattress purchase is durability and the durability and useful life of a mattress depends on its construction and the type and quality of the materials inside it regardless of the name of the manufacturer on the label so I would always make sure that a retailer or manufacturer you are considering is willing and able to provide you with the information listed here so you can compare the materials and components to the quality/durability guidelines to make sure there are no lower quality materials or weak links in a mattress that would affect the durability and useful life of a mattress before making any purchase. The top 4 cm layer of latex would be a good quality and durable material (although I would want to know the type and blend of the latex) but I would also want to know the density of the 4 cm middle memory foam layer and the density of the bottom 17 cm polyfoam layer as well.
