Getting a feel for the Ultimate Dream Latex

Hi engorgedtomao,

I think that this is one of the best comparative posts I have read on the forum and I’m truly grateful for all the thought and insight that went into it.

While it’s true that perceptions of softness are relative to each person … your comparisons are about as careful and accurate as I think that any one person’s could be.

The only thing I would correct is the specs of the Nature which are listed here (the Nature has 2" of 28 ILD not 3" under 2" of 21 ILD Talalay GL fast response). The old versions which are still available in some areas of the country are listed here (the “old” Nature has 1" less of 28 ILD and has 2" of the talatech 19 ILD instead of the Talalay GL 21 ILD on top).

Another member Gapeachk here ordered the level 4 of the Ultimate Dreams and put it in between the Edsele and the Elsfjord to add one more reference point.

The Celebrate has 3" of Talalay GL fast response in the top layer (probably 21ILD which is their “standard” top layer) with 2" of Talatech in the middle over their bonded foam core. I’m not sure of the ILD of the middle layer but it would almost certainly be in the 24 - 28 ILD range.

I would also keep in mind that the Ultimate Dreams has a 1.5" layer of softer quilting foam on top of the latex (which is pre-compressed with the quilting) which would make the comfort layer a little softer than the ILD may otherwise indicate.

Perhaps your comparisons and a few other pieces of the puzzle (and perhaps a few other comparisons from other members who are confident in their comparisons) will be helpful for others who are looking to approximate or find some “equivalence” to their comfort choices with local testing.

Thanks again for taking the time to make such detailed and helpful comparisons.
