HD Foam core + Latex

Hey everyone –

with a thick support core of firm HD polyfoam 1.8lb+ covering the first 5-6inches + 3-4 inches of softer talalay comfort on top - can there really be a substantial difference in durability and feel?

I’m unable to locate any locally to test, however online I see some factories will do this… and It ends up being 1/2 the cost. 1000-1200 for a king vs 2k+…

Has anyone ever tried these side by side? Besides talalay being more durable than even HD foam, does anyone have meaningful input on comfort aspects?

Thanks

Hi hermanski,

There would be many “it depends” in the answer including the specifics of the mattress and the person. It would probably be fair to say that for “most” people there would be “some” difference both in terms of PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and Personal preferences) and durability and for some or even many people there could be “significant” differences (more in terms of PPP and performance than durability if both mattresses are using good quality and durable materials) … but again it would depend on the specifics of the mattresses you were comparing and the person. There is more about the differences between a polyfoam/latex hybrid and an all latex mattress in post #2 here and in post #2 here.
