Dear Phoenix, All.
For the guest bedroom I purchased a mattress from Macy’s which was a display piece for about 400 which was originally priced at 2499. Its a great deal and the mattress is nice but there was a small water stain on the mattress so I decided to run spotbot on the whole mattress.
When I use spotbot’s hand tool, the mattress looks perfectly clean but then when it dries there are lots of water stains on it. The mattress is of white cloth iSerta and not the polyester type.
Any recommendations how can I get those stains to come off? I even sprinkled baking soda and vacumed it and none helped. Wish I could remove the cover and put it in a machine to wash it.
All started with a small stain. I should have worked that and left it at that. Messed up. Hoping for anything?

I would use the suggestions here or here or here (they are all similar).
The most important thing with a water stain is to dry it as quickly and completely as possible either with repeated blotting or with a hair dryer on the coolest setting (heat can set any remaining stain).

Thank you Phoenix for the tip. I’ve gone through this mattress multiple times. When cleaned and slightly wet it looks like a perfect factory mattress. When it dries with the fastest fan setting in about an hour or two the rings come in almost like a design throughout the mattress. I’m so tired of it. I’ll let it dry and cover it up. I never knew cleaning a mattress would be this hard.

If the normal methods don’t work for you it may be worth asking a question on the Serta site here or contacting them here to see if they have any suggestions that may be specific to their cover.

On a side note, last night, I put my small mini poodle on my new Stern & Fosters and he puked and I didn’t realize it till morning. :(.
I’ve now cleaned that new one with spotbot and vinegar n water. it looks to be ok. hopefully water stains wont creep up there. I’m having a bad streak with mattress luck these days.

Phoenix. I wanted to update you that I cleaned the S&F mattress as per your recommendation and its absolutely perfect. I couldn’t tell where was the spot but I knew around the area. I air dried it. Great to have this knowledge.
Air Drying is the key. I would say clean the mattress and air dry the top at least and let the internal dry out in a few days with the regular fan.

I think that all the “experts” would agree that rapid and complete drying (as long as a fan doesn’t use hot air which can set a stain) along with using the least amount of water possible (so it doesn’t penetrate into the materials below the cover) is the key to avoiding water stains.

I wish I knew this when I was cleaning the queen mattress when it was all wet the first night. Its not clean and hardly any stains. Redoing it all for some minor stains is a lot of work so I’ll ignore it for now. I have a small hair dryer and going over that with the whole mattress will be a mundane task don’t you think. I will have to rent the blowers from home depot to make that happen. The ceiling fan on the top didn’t do the trick even on a fast setting.
Now the hair dryer did miracle on the other mattress but then again that was a small spot to work on and not the whole mattress.

Dear friends, I would like to tell you about my experience of removing stains from a mattress. Recently I had a nosebleed because I was very nervous. I got the mattress a bit dirty, unfortunately. I didn’t want my wife to see how I had stained her favorite mattress, so I wondered how to remove mattress stains. Actually, the internet doesn’t really know much about it all, but thanks to this blog I managed to clean all stains. I used hydrogen peroxide and liquid soap then cleaned with baking soda, and luckily the stains are gone. I advise you to definitely give it a try!
