Help with new memory foam mattress Brooklyn Bedding Cool Luxe

Hi cloudedaze,
Is their Cool Symphony worth looking at if I have to exchange or should I move to their Latex series. Only issue that I see with the Cool Symphony is that the layers are less and the second layer is only 4lb compared to the 5lb I currently have.

I didn’t think the mattress would soften up that quickly.
All mattresses will go through an initial break in period where the cover stretches a bit and the foam layers lose any of their “false firmness” and become a little softer but this can affect some people more than others depending on how sensitive they are or where they are inside their optimal range in terms of PPP. There is more about this in post #3 here and in post #2 here.

The Tempurpedic Cloud Luxe (or another mattress that approximates it) is among the softest of the Tempurpedic mattresses and would be too soft for many people in terms of PPP.

I don’t have any personal experience with either mattress and Brooklyn Bedding will be your best source of guidance about how the Cool Symphony compares to the Cool Luxe in terms of “feel” or PPP but the Cool Symphony would be closer to the feel and firmness of the Tempurpedic Rhapsody and would be firmer than the Cool Luxe which would be closer to the feel and firmness of the Tempurpedic Cloud Luxe. Neither one has any lower quality materials or weak links in the design.

The choice between latex and memory foam would be a preference choice not so much a “better/worse” choice and some people prefer the feel and response of one material and some prefer the other. Both can certainly make good choices in a mattress that is a good “match” for you in terms of PPP. There is more about the differences between them and the pros and cons of each in post #2 here.

I’m not familiar with a “Simple Living” foundation but if you have the Simple Life foundation (as opposed to the Handy Living foundation) then it should be fine. If you have the Handy Living foundation that has flexible slats then it could certainly affect the feel or performance of your mattress. You can always test the effect of your foundation by putting your mattress on the floor to see how it changes the feel or firmness of your mattress.
