Hurting in Dayton Ohio

My husband and I need a new mattress… surprised? Ha!

We’ve purchased 4 different mattresses in 3 years and none of them have worked. We’re trying to find a replacement for the one wet had purchased from a grimy store on Needmore Rd. In Dayton, Ohio 15 years ago that was perfect until it finally began to sag.

We have given the first two away to people and then we went nuts out of desperation and bought 2 different types of latex and foam mattresses with the adjustable bases from Costco…I will say that Costco has been incredible…after trying valiantly for 6 months we decided that neither one will work for us. There were NO questions asked and the shopping people will be here next Wednesday to pick them up…but now we will be down to the guest bedroom again our the couch…sigh…

We obviously just don’t know how to do this, even after reading so much of the material on here we’re not comfortable trying this on our own.

We need to find a true sleep specialist to help us.

Our zip code is 45324.

Help?

Hi Peanut66,

I’m assuming that you’ve read the mattress shopping tutorial here which includes all the basic information, steps, and guidelines that can help you make the best possible choice … and perhaps even more importantly help you know how and why to avoid the worst ones.

Two of the most important links in the tutorial that I would especially make sure you’ve read are post #2 here which has more about the different ways to choose a suitable mattress (either locally or online) that is the best “match” for you in terms of PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and Personal preferences) that can help you assess and minimize the risks of making a choice that doesn’t turn out as well as you hoped for and post #13 here which has more about the most important parts of the “value” of a mattress purchase which can help you make more meaningful quality/value comparisons between mattresses in terms of suitability, durability, and value.

The better options or possibilities I’m aware of in and around the Dayton, OH area (subject to the quality/value guidelines I linked) are listed in post #5 here.

Phoenix,

We have read your links and I must tell you how much we appreciated them and kept shaking our heads saying yep yep yep after each experience. But when we went out into the world again several weeks ago when Costco was so wonderful about returning the other beds with NO hassles we were in the “soup” again.

We were quickly overwhelmed again by all the “marketing noise” even with our new boat of information/education.

Your link with the area merchants will now be scrutinized…to be honest, the “value” proposition has gone way UP…I just NEED a good nights sleep and to not wake up with my back aching or worse yet…being woken up in the middle of the night from the aching!

I’ll keep you posted but again…THANK YOU.

Robin

No need to hurt in Dayton, OH. Design Sleep will help you out.

If I had known they were just 55 miles from home, I’d be sleeping on one of their mattresses. I’m considering one for the guest room but I’m afraid my wife might migrate to that one leaving me to sleep alone. :frowning:

Hi Peanut66,

I’m looking forward to finding out what you end up deciding … and of course any comments or questions you may have along the way.

You certainly have some good options available in the area (including Design Sleep which PapaMike mentioned). In many cases the knowledge, experience, and guidance of the store you deal with can be one of the most important parts of a successful mattress purchase.
