I picked the Aloe Alexis now need HELP to figure out layering?

Hi rob2121,
So right now have 32ild latex over 5lb gel foam and switched both back kills me when on this bed. Soon as I get up and walk around for 5 min pain starts going away or if i sleep on my sofa No pain. Sofa pretty sure a cheap poly-foam, but its pretty firm around same as 32ild latex. So not sure what to do? order 28ild latex put on top of 32ild latex? Would 3’ 28ild latex be more supportive than 3’ 5lb memory foam.

I dont get it!? my parents cheap spring mattress feels better when i took a nap there over the holiday No back pain.adn my gitlfreidn complaining to she getting pain ?
The type of materials in a mattress is a preference choice and has very little to do with whether any mattress is a good match for you in terms of PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and Personal preferences) or whether you will sleep well on it. There are many variations and designs in every mattress category (latex, polyfoam, memory foam, innersprings etc) and the design of the mattress and how well a specific mattress matches your unique needs and preferences is always more important than the type of materials that are inside it. In other words … the type of material isn’t the most important part of what makes a particular mattress suitable for some people and unsuitable for others (outside of their preferences) and it’s always the specific design and combination of layers and materials that is the most important part of PPP.

While I can’t feel what you feel or see you sleeping on the mattress so I can’t make any specific suggestions … I may be able to provide some information that can help you with some of the detective work that can be involved in finding out the most likely cause of your “symptoms” or some of the potential solutions that may help.

There is more about the more common “symptoms” that people can experience on a mattress and some of the most likely reasons for them in post #2 here and the posts it links to.

Post #2 here and post #4 here also has more information about primary or “deep” support and secondary or “surface” support and their relationship to each other and to firmness and pressure relief and the “roles” of different layers in a mattress that may be helpful in clarifying the reasons for your symptoms as well.

Based on your previous comments and feedback and on your heavier body type it seems like your two top layers may be too soft for you and it’s quite possible that you may do better with firmer comfort and/or transition layers.

If your mattress is too soft for you then there are also some suggestions in post #4 here and the posts it links to that may be helpful as well (and I would particularly make sure that you check the foundation under your mattress to make sure that it isn’t contributing to the problem).

If you have tried both the 5 lb memory foam on top as well as the 32 ILD latex on top and neither of these worked for you it may also be worth trying either one of the layers by themselves (although the cover will be loose) which would give you a little less thickness/softness in your comfort and transition layers and may help to keep the heavier parts of your body (hips/pelvis) from sinking down too far to see if this makes a difference for you as well.

The results of some of these suggestions may provide a “pointer” to some other suggestions that may be helpful as well.
