Hi all,
This is a follow up to my initial post here :https://forum.mattressunderground.com/t/brooklyn-bedding-natural-latex-vs-total-latex-vs-dreamfoam-total-latex-only-available-on-amazon
We’ve been sleeping on the mattress for two weeks at this point, so I thought I’d share my initial impressions, as well as solicit some feedback.
First off, the process of purchasing the mattress and receiving it was as painless as possible. The Brooklyn Bedding guys were very helpful in making a decision, and their delivery was prompt; the mattress came in less than a week from ordering, and actually got delivered by FedEx a day earlier than what was promised.
A thing to note for those of you who may not have experience with latex mattresses : This thing is HEAVY. It took considerable effort between my wife and I to heave it on to the bed (even when it was rolled up), and I shudder at the thought of moving it, now that it’s in its final form.
As far as sleeping on it goes. . .
My review right now is mixed. We ordered the ‘Soft’ firmness, as recommended by Mario at Brooklyn Bedding, based on my wife’s and my height, weight and sleeping preferences. My wife seems to be very happy, overall, and doesn’t have any complaints with the mattress. I, however, think it may be a bit too soft for me. When I lie on it, I feel pressure at my lower back/buttocks, as well as a little bit around my neck. I’ve been waking up a bit stiff, and the lower back pain is definitely noticeable in the morning. I had my wife take a picture of me lying on the bed last night, and I was definitely sagging a bit in the middle. For reference, I’m about 5’9", 155lbs.
Part of this may be because of our couch at home, which is now fairly uncomfortable and offers no support, so I’m trying to not sit on it at all for a few days to see if I can isolate and confirm that it’s the mattress. That being said, the pressure when lying on it in the points I mentioned is definitely not imagined.
Being inexperienced with mattresses, I’m not a 100% sure if the issues I’m describing are because the mattress is too soft. Anyone else have similar issues/experience, and have advice on how you fixed it?
Currently, I think I’m leaning towards switching the topper for the medium firmness, but I’m going to hold off for a week before I make a decision.
