Seems like the few companies that were selling one-inch talalay toppers currently aren’t offering them. I need just a tiny bit more cushion over my current three-inch 28 ILD topper. It looks like Sleep on Latex is still offering one-inch toppers in their dunlop, but I’m not sure a soft dunlop over a medium talalay will give me what I need.
I’d love to find a retailer of 1" Talalay soft, too.
Hello to you, The Toddler ! Welcome to TMU!
Are you looking for a Talalay topper, i.e. a 1" covered latex insert, or simply the 1" latex insert to add to your encased setup? What size do you need? That thickness as a covered topper isn’t retailed often, as a single inch of latex doesn’t add much comfort/ difference in feel, and the cost of covering it is quite expensive. Not sure if any of the trusted members can special order that for you, but we’re happy to check once we know more of what your needs are .
Thanks,
Sensei
P.S. to @baronmaupertuis, same q’s for you too .
Truth be told I have an extra inch of space in my encasement and wanted to soften the feel. My top layer is 3" of 28 ILD talalay and didn’t want to use Dunlop because i thought it’d reduce the breathability of the mattress. Thanks for all that you do.
I do not need a cover, just the slab of latex. I don’t have my heart set on it. I currently have a 3" 100% natural talalay topper in 28 ILD and it’s generally good but sometimes I feel like I need a bit of extra cushion. I don’t want to add too much more on top because I already have the 3" topper plus my mattress’ built in topping (1.5" of a low ILD hypurgel). My coils are very firm though. I had a 19 ILD talalay topper and I sunk right through it and still felt too much of the firmness of the mattress underneath. I’ve thought about trying to find a 3" 24 ild topper, but that’s another rarity to find and it’s a pricy gamble. I figured that adding a little bit more softness would do the trick. And latex is a good choice for me, as I sleep very hot.
Hey @baronmaupertuis and The Toddler,
I’ve reached out to a trusted member regarding your request for 1" Talalay latex inserts but need to know what sizes and ILDs that you’re interested in .
Thanks,
Sensei
Queen size, ILD probably somewhere 19 to low 20s. Thanks for these efforts!
Similar for myself please. I’d like half a queen if possible (30*80) (my wife likes her 36 ILD side but I think I might need softness in my life
Hey hansiefer, baronmaupertuis, and The Toddler,
I’m sorry to report that there currently isn’t enough demand for 1" Talalay inserts to be stocked by manufacturers for resell. As The Toddler mentioned previously, 1" Dunlop insert options are available, but they do not offer a feel similar to Talalay. If anyone hears of a particular source offering 1" Talalay latex inserts for DIY, let us know and we’ll check out their sourcing .
Thanks,
Sensei
Well, your efforts in checking into this are greatly appreciated. I have felt the difference between dunlop and talalay in person. But in a one inch layer in a soft ILD (eg, dunlop at 20 ILD), would the difference really be that noticeable?

You are most welcome .
Adding a 1" layer of either Dunlop or Talalay latex to a DIY doesn’t add value in terms of durability and therefore isn’t worth the production expense to the manufacturer. In terms of difference in feel, mostly likely no, it would not be that noticeable.
