Looking for a second bed for our guest room. I or my husband will be using the second bed because we each suffer from a sleep disturbance from time-to-time and do not want to wake each other up.
This is what I am currently looking at in a twin XL 100% Talalay latex that is comprised of three 3 inch layers that are not glued and are interchangeable. The company offers a 30 day exchange for 1 layer along with a 60 day return policy less 18% restocking (yikes!), and the buyer pays the return freight.

I can order the layers in any configuration that I want (e.g. soft (ILD 19)/firm/extra firm)
Is this good value? What about the return policy? Any suggestions on where I can go to get something approximate to what I now have that costs less? I do not have a problem adding a memory foam topper and find them quite comfortable as long as the bed has adequate support for the spine.
We currently have a Queen size 100% Talalay mattress - 9 inch that is comprised of 2 inches of latex with an ILD of 19 on top that is glued to 7 inches of latex with an ILD of 38. This was very supportive for spinal alignment, but way too firm so we added a 3 inch memory foam topper and this created a winning combination for us.
I would like to get as close to what we have now and spend less.
I did call Foam Sweet Foam and spoke to Scott who seems very knowledgeable about his products and although I donât believe that going to the showroom for purposes of trying out a bed will be helpful, the showroom is about 20 miles away from our home.
Any input would be very much appreciated. I need to get this bed shopping done ASAP. Thanks for the site!

If you want to experiment with 100% Latex, I think they are a good vendor. They ship what you order, fast. And those sale prices are good value for their cover and Latex layers.
The cover is high quality, fine design, and quilted with wool. It will protect/preserve the Latex well, serve as a flame retardant, and provide good ventilation between you and the Latex, even better ventilation if on a solid slatted platform. My only reservation with the cover is that it may not stretch (despite being called âknitâ), making it a tight top that will not allow your body to settle fully/properly into the Latex comfort layer. But maybe this wonât be a negative for your pressure relief and alignment needs.
You say 4 layers and linked to 3 layers. Either can work, or not, depending on the layers and your tolerance. The right 9" of Latex is plenty for up to 250 lbs or more. I prefer soft on top so that I can feel it, especially under a heavy cover (28 ILD is too hard for my upper body where as 19 ILD is fine); and I donât see shuffling layers up and down out of a ânormalâ soft-to-firm progression as being a solution for alignment issues, so having more layers may not help.
I would skip any pad that is over-priced and does not stretch⌠that does not offer better value than the St. Dormeir pad when found on sale.
I would skip any solid Latex pillows⌠âlike resting your head on a balloonâ. Instead, buy some LaNoodles by the Pound and stuff your own pillows to taste.

Basically I would say âdittoâ to Sleepingâs comments. I think highly of Scott and FSF and they are knowledgeable and experienced manufacturers. They would make a high quality and good value choice that is in the same âvalue rangeâ as the members of this site.
I believe that personal testing is the most helpful thing you could do and if I was 20 miles away there is no doubt that I would pay them a visit to choose the layering combination that was as close as possible to your ideal.
An all natural latex mattress is of course more costly than other types of mattresses and materials and not everyone would choose this for a guest bedroom because of the cost but it certainly compares well to other mattresses that use similar materials and design and if I was in the market for this type of mattress I wouldnât hesitate to purchase from them.
