Speaking of FRCs, if you got a plain cover, without the wool quilting, it is probably treated because it’s the law. My understanding is that SleepEZ uses borate (boric acid), which is the least toxic FRC, but you might call Shawn and make sure. Maybe wash the cover when you get the bed; again, Shawn would know if this was a good idea. Again, borate is pretty mild stuff, but part of my concern was that since most mattress companies are fairly sleazy, and the big names are mostly made in China, I frankly didn’t TRUST that they wouldn’t claim to use borate but really use other more toxic chemicals instead (some of the approved FRCs are nasty indeed). SleepEZ being a small American family-run company that’s been in business for decades, I tend to trust them a lot more.

Just to clarify this … SleepEz doesn’t use borate in their non quilted covers but use a silica/rayon inherent material that is a safe and non toxic fire barrier. This would also be my preference in a mattress that didn’t use wool. You can read a little more about fire barriers in post #2 here.
