Pressure relief in latex vs memory foam mattresses

I used to get very sore hips from our pillow top mattress. We purchased a gel memory foam topper online from Costco and it has been wonderful. No more sore hips. Unfortunately, our inner spring mattress has developed some sagging areas and we need a new mattress. We are considering either a latex or a memory foam mattress. Is one better or worse as far as not getting sore pressure points? We love the way our memory foam topper feels. So cozy! The only negative thing about it whatsoever is that you have to kind of lift up and flip over in order to change positions, as you cannot slide at all on it. It is worth it though, for the comfort level provided. We do not have any issues with getting hot. Would consider using it on our brand new mattress as well, as long as the sheets still fit over all of it! Any hints on latex vs memory foam will be greatly appreciated!

Hi bloomcrew,

Memory foam and latex are very different materials and the choice between them is really a personal preference. Post #2 here has more about how they compare to each other and both can be very pressure relieving in the right design but the best way to know which one you prefer in a comfort layer (memory foam can’t be used in deep support layers) would be to test both of them in person.
