Greetings, new member looking for local mattress manufacturers/trustworthy retailers in Birmingham, AL where I can test drive different models. Wife has lower back issues and she prefers a traditional coil based mattress. I am more open to alternatives that provide good support and comfort for mostly side sleepers.
Seems as there are a number of excellent online options from reading the forums but we both want something to compare to by actually testing some mattresses without the hassle of iffy online orders/returns.

The better options or possibilities I’m aware of in and around Birmingham, AL (subject to making sure that any mattress you are considering meets the quality/value guidelines here) are listed in post #57 here.

If you are in reasonable driving distance I think highly of Tom and Royal Bedding in terms of their knowledge and service and the quality/value of their mattresses and I would certainly make a point of including them in your research.
