Replacing 17yo Beautyrest Black - $10k budget

I currently have a 17yo Beautyrest Black that has been great but is really on its last legs w/r/t sag. I’m getting old and have a bad back, so that doesn’t fly. Our current bed frame is a low profile frame and the large mattress we have is a good height.

What should I be looking at for replacement? I’d like to keep it under $10k but can stretch a bit if necessary. In DFW area so having a showroom within an hour is a plus.

Thansk in advance.

Hey johngalt69!

Welcome to our Mattress Forum.

Since you have such an ample budget, the world is your mattress oyster!

This is going to depend very much on your PPP (Posture & alignment, Pressure relief, and Personal preferences)

What do you want from your mattress? What did you like about the Beautyrest Black?

We’ve got a Trusted Member out in Fort Worth, The Mattress Factory, that’s got a showroom that you may wish to check out as well.

No sag will be important because of lower back. The beautyrest is a plush pillowtop which we’ve really liked as well as the movement isolation. I’m also a stomach sleeper. Thx for the feedback.

Nothing new should sag. If you’re particularly interested in back support, I’d also add @BackScience and @CST to your short list.

To expand further on what @NikkiTMU mentioned, as a Doctor of Chiropractor and mattress designer for over 20 years, I can tell you that 17 years of sleeping on a plush Beautyrest mattress is longer than it was made to last, which could lead to back pain, but either way, you would benefit from additional lumbar support this time around,

Based on your desired comfort level that would necessitate a more plush pillowtop feel, excellent movement isolation, and to get you well under your budget, I would recommend you take a look at the Back Science Series 3 Hybrid, which seems tailor made for your situation.

Why the Series 3 Hybrid is the Right Fit

  1. Anti-Sag, Targeted Support for Stomach Sleepers: This is the most crucial part. The Series 3 is built with our patent pending Lumbar-Flex Zoned Support system. This technology actively reinforces the core of the mattress beneath your hips. You get the plush comfort on the surface, but the underlying system provides the necessary firm lift to prevent your hips from sinking, thereby keeping your lower spine straight and preventing the pain caused by the “hammock effect” common in standard plush beds.
  2. Plush Feel without Compromising Support: The Series 3 offers a thicker, more luxurious surface (which mimics the plush pillowtop feel you like) without compromising the deep support thanks to the zoned system.
  3. Durability: Your concern about longevity is addressed by our high-end construction and our 30-year limited warranty, which offers double the sag protection of most standard warranties.

Showroom & Trial Information

To directly address your location, we do not have representatives or showrooms outside of our factory store in California. We are an online, direct-to-consumer brand, which does save you the extra middleman cost. That said, since you never really know a mattress until you sleep on it, you can try the mattress and have the amazing reassurance that it will work out perfectly, thanks to our 365-Night Sleep Trial. This eliminates the risk of buying online, and if the mattress isn’t absolutely perfect, we offer free comfort customizations via our GripLock Modular cover system to fine-tune the feel for your specific back issues.

You can view the Series 3 Hybrid and all our models at www.BackScience.com. Feel free to call us at 800 667-1969 for personal guidance.

Kluft Imperial - it’s been great

Oh yeah that looks fantastic. I was also interested to see what you chose in that price range so thank you for sharing. And really, that’s not that much for a bed we sleep in for years. We spend much much more on that for cars we then have to pay for gas to drive, and the maintenance costs. Something we sleep in for 8 hours a day is worth the money.
