Hi a.stauff,
Besides the topic you linked … there is also some more information about the Reverie Dream Sleep System in this topic. As you probably know they are a invited member of the site which means I think highly of them in terms of their quality, value, service, and transparency.
I would be very cautious about using mattress reviews (either positive or negative) as a legitimate source of mattress research because they will have little relevance to someone else’s experience on a mattress either in terms of PPP (Posture and alignment, pressure relief, or Personal preferences) or in terms of the useful life of a mattress. In many cases they can be more misleading than helpful (see post #13 here). A mattress that is “perfect” for one person may be completely unsuitable for someone else to sleep on but one of the advantages of a mattress like this is that it can be customized for each person both before and after a purchase so that you can configure it in many different ways.
There is more about the most important parts of the “value” of a mattress purchase in post #13 here that can help you make more meaningful comparisons between mattresses.
The only way to know whether a mattress is a good “match” for you in terms of PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and Personal preferences) with any certainty is based on your own personal testing or your actual sleeping experience. When you can’t test a mattress in person then your best source of guidance will always be a more detailed conversation with an online manufacturer who can help “talk you through” the options that are available that would have the best chance of success based on your body type, sleeping positions, preferences, and any other information you can provide them to help them to help you make the best possible choice (see mattress firmness/comfort levels in post #2 here).
Your initial choice would be your starting configuration but their mattress design also allows you to rearrange the cylinders if that’s necessary and they also have a great return policy so instead of testing a mattress in a store you would be using your own sleeping experience to test the mattress instead so you can decide whether the mattress is a good “match” for you with little risk.
The specs of their mattresses are listed in post #6 here and they use very high quality materials and there are no weak links in the mattress in terms of the durability of the materials.
I don’t know myself but it may be worth calling them and asking to see if they can provide you with any further information about the Costco show or any discount that may be available. It would certainly allow you to test the mattress in person before a purchase to get a more general sense of what the mattress feels like but they may not have the specific configuration available that would be the best “match” for you so your own sleeping experience on the configuration that is “right” for you may still be an important part of any final decision that you make.
