Selectfoam- Featherlight Supreme vs. Temflo -Flexia

Im interested in both? Flexia cost $1999 more than Featherlight Supreme $1599. So is Felxia worth extra $400!?

Hi rob2121,

The most important part of the “value” of a mattress purchase is how well it matches your specific needs and preferences in terms of PPP. No matter what the price or quality of the materials in a mattress … if it isn’t suitable for you to sleep on then it would have little value to you.

The next most important part of a mattress purchase is the quality and durability of the materials. No matter how well you sleep on a mattress when it’s new … if it uses lower quality materials that will soften or break down too quickly relative to the price you paid and you lost the comfort or support that was the reason you bought it in the first place then it would also have little value to you. In your case … there are no weak links in either mattress.

Other than PPP and the useful life of a mattress … the other parts of your personal value equation that are important to you including the price and any return or exchange policies if in spite of everyone’s “best efforts” the mattress doesn’t work out as well as you hoped would also be important parts of any online mattress purchase.

When you are down to your finalists and there are no clear winners between them then post #2 here may be helpful in deciding between them based on your conversations on the phone with each retailer or manufacturer, your confidence about which one is the best “match” for you, and your own informed “best judgement”.

At the end of the day … when you look back on a mattress purchase in a decade or so … you will remember much more about how well you slept and how long you slept well than you will about relatively small differences in the price per year of ownership. Both of them would certainly be “worth it” if they are the “best” match for you compared to your other finalists.

I have 3 finalist Im torn between!

$1569 Selectfoam- Featherlight Supreme 11" 10yr /limited Lifetime Warranty prorated/ 90 trial free pick up and full refund no cost

$1999- Tempflo -Flexia 9" 10yr/ 30 prorated 120 days trial/ returns/exchange costumer pays shipping

$1399 Brooklyn-Aloe Alexis 14" 10/yr/ 10 prorated 120 days trial/ returns/exchange costumer pays shipping

The Selectfoam- Featherlight Supreme looks like the best deal in terms if you didnt like it you could return it and purchase one of the other 2!

Also can a total of 9" combo of memory foam latex compare to 11" and 14" in the other 2 brands. The other 2 use so much more material!

Hi rob2121,

The choice between latex and memory foam is a personal preference but they are very different from each other and are very much of an apples to oranges comparison. There is more about the differences between them in post #2 here but the best way to know which one you would prefer to sleep on is your own personal testing and experience (although you are also planning to use memory foam as the top layer so it would be more comparable to a memory foam mattress, I would also keep in mind that the Alexis has polyfoam and wool in the quilting which can also affect the feel of the memory foam compared to sleeping on memory foam directly).

The thickness of a mattress and the total amount of material isn’t nearly as important as the specifics of the material inside it and how well it matches your needs and preferences in terms of PPP. Specialty foams like latex and to a slightly lesser degree memory foam are also more costly than polyfoam (although there are higher quality and more costly and lower quality and less costly grades of every type of foam material whether it’s latex foam, memory foam, or polyfoam).

To take an extreme example … if I used 20" of cheap polyfoam to build a mattress it probably would be completely unsuitable for many if not most people to sleep on … it wouldn’t be very durable at all … and it would be less costly than even 4" - 6" of higher quality specialty foams used in just the comfort layers of a better quality mattress.

Just in case you haven’t done it already … I would also make sure you have a more detailed phone conversation with any online manufacturer you are considering so that they can give you the benefit of their knowledge and experience to help you decide if one of their mattresses would be a suitable choice for you.

Had conversations with a ll them! Brooklyn seemed most knowledgeable about individual needs and in general about mattresses and foams, followed by Select Foam and then Tempflo! Tempflo didnt seem as good with caring about consumers needs rather more about their image about being the best and thats why their prices are higher and you cant find anything comparable to them for the price! They seemed a little modest!

I was just seeking if anyone else had experiences with these mattresses although i know everyone is different with PPP!

Hi rob2121,

A forum search on Aloe Alexis (you can just click this) will bring up more information and feedback from many members that have purchased it.

A forum search on Flexia only brings up a few mentions of it but none of them are from someone who owns it.

A forum search on featherlight also brings up a few mentions of it but again none are from a member who owns it.

Hopefully some of the members here that own one of these mattresses will see your post and share their comments and feedback about their mattress.

I should also mention that the Alexis has a wool and polyfoam quilted cover which can change the feel of memory foam compared to sleeping on memory foam directly (see post #12 here about quilted covers)
