SleepNation Hybrid Gel-foam/latex longevity and offgassing

To anyone else that might stumble on to this thread, the eco-gel foam used as a layer over SleepNation’s latex mattresses are made of a mixture of plant based (I believe it was soy) foam and traditional memory foam. The density of the foam layer is 5lb.

Thanks for the update and for listing the density of the gel memory foam. I would use the same density guidelines regardless of whether the polyols are plant based or petrochemical based (see post #2 here) and 5 lb memory foam (or gel memory foam) is certainly a high quality material that wouldn’t be a weak link in the mattress.

Most importantly … congratulations on your new mattress.

I hope you have the chance to share an update when you’ve had the chance to sleep on it for a bit.
