Is this a good support layer? Any more information or details. The mattress would be 3" of latex over 5" soy base hd

So called “soy based” foam is just another form of polyfoam and it’s quality/durability depends on it’s density and other properties just like any other polyfoam (and can be directly compared to any other polyfoam). You can read a little more about polyfoam that has replaced some of the petrochemical polyols with polyols that are chemically derived from plant oils such as soy in post #2 here.
They are directly comparable to other forms of polyfoam with a similar density and similar performance specs.
