soy core

I’ve been looking at Talalay latex mattresses and I noticed that some have a soy foam core. I was told by a salesman that the soy foam core’s do not hold up well and break down fast. Is this true? Is soy foam a bad product?

Hi CSWP,

A so called “soy foam core” is just regular polyfoam that has replaced a relatively small percentage of one of the two main petrochemicals (the polyol) that are used to manufacture it with a polyol that is derived from soy oil (see post #2 here). They would be closely comparable to a regular polyfoam core of the same density in terms of quality and durability.
