stomach/side sleeper - best combo for all latex mattress

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the links your provided. It was a good review. I live in Steamboat Springs (80487). If you are aware of any retailers closer to where I live that sell latex mattresses, especially component latex mattresses, I would love that information.

There aren’t any stores in or close to Steamboat Springs I’m aware of that would be worth visiting. The closest forum lists are for the area around Denver in post #2 here and for the area around Fort Collins in post #4 here.

I am not sure if it is even worth it to drive 3 hours to Denver again to try out mattresses unless I plan to purchase one there since the feel of the mattresses I try out will not be the same as a mattress I purchase from a store online. I probably need to just make that leap and call the company I am interested in purchasing from and discuss my needs, hoping that we can come up with the right combination together. I am definitely interested in purchasing a component latex mattress as I believe this type of system will give me the greatest flexibility if I need to make a minor change in the layers as well as greater ease setting up my mattress if the layers are split in half.

Foam Source in Boulder also carries a range of component latex mattresses and would probably be worth a phone call and/or possibly a visit.

If I am reading the information correctly, the gaps between the slats on these beds are 2 inches. They come with 16 slats for a queen size frame. The slats are made with solid fir held together with jute webbing, and they are said to provide a medium firm bed. They also offer the option of a 4-slat upgrade kit for a total of 20 slats, with the slats then being 1 1/2" apart, saying it would make it an even firmer bed, One of the companies selling these bed frames recommends the slat upgrade of using a latex mattress. Do you think the upgrade is necessary?

If the slats are 1x3 slats and they have little to no flex and good center support to the floor then it’s unlikely that a few additional slats would make a noticeable difference in the firmness of your mattress. The extra slats would provide a little extra load bearing surface area but they wouldn’t be “necessary” to provide suitable support for the mattress either.
