Talalay Mattress

Hi cdnpatriot.

It looks like you’ve got quite a configuration figured out. Have you been able to do any laying on latex to help you come to this configuration?

Deeper layers will have less effect on the feel and firmness of the mattress “as a whole” than layers that are closer to the sleeping surface.

Keeping in mind that you would feel relatively small differences in the bottom layers, a previous Phoenix post makes a “pound cake vs. angel food cake” analogy while asking about Dunlop latex’s properties vs Talalay latex. The Dunlop latex process results in a more dense product (pound cake/ firmer feel), while the Talalay process yields a less dense, lighter foam (angel food cake/lighter, more “uplifting” or springy feel). Either Dunlop or Talalay latex as a support core would provide excellent point elasticity and high durability, as well as unique support factor properties, and neither are ultimately going to give you the same springiness as an innerspring mattress.

I hope this helps!
