Hello all, I’m a pretty lightweight mostly-side sleeper (110lbs, 75% side 25% back, sleep hot, sit in bed often, looking for twin XL with >1k budget) and I was wondering if I should go for a 15.5 TPS base or the 8” Bolsa coils? I’m going to do a 2” medium latex transition layer and 2” plush Serene comfort layer on top, but before I finalize that I want to figure out my base.
Tips, ideas, and/or thoughts are welcome! If there’s any adjustments you think I should make to what I have so far, please let me know!
I heard TPS are the best (most durable) in the game and that their coils don’t require any extra work (gluing anything to their bottom and/or top). I also read that the 15.5 ga coils are their softest, making them the most ideal TPS coils for side sleepers. As for the Bolsa coils, I read that they were very soft and thus very good for side sleeping, but also found that many people experienced issues with their L&P coils. A lot of people on Reddit state that theirs ended up falling apart in some way or the other, like their coils puncturing through their fabric? I’m also afraid that the Bolsa might be too soft and not offer enough support, but on the other hand I’m afraid that the TPS might be too firm and uncomfortable to sleep on no matter how many layers I add on top.
So I can only speak for our pockets and address your concern of the 15.5 being too firm. With you being 115lbs and you planning on having 4" of comfort layers on top, you wont have to worry about the 15.5 being too firm. the 15.5G 1008 is our workhorse unit which is used as a “blank canvas” for several high end mattress companies who produce several different plush levels using the same base coil. they adjust the layers above the coil.
