A slightly off-topic question... on blankets

You know there aren’t a lot of bedding forums out there to get insight

I have a 100% polyester blanket that I have used as my comforter for a long time. It’s not one of those “crappy” fleece type polyester blankets… Where they brag about how incredibly soft (and therefore delicate) it is.

My polyester blanket is of the type that has been around since they probably first started making blankets from synthetic fibers. It’s more “rough” than all those soft blankets out there.

I’m trying to find something similar to replace it - but it’s incredibly hard to do. I have no idea if they are even made like this anymore - and if so, how to search for it, as a polyester blanket search brings up all the garbage blankets I have no interest in. (I have a couple of those and it’s just not the same in terms of how warm it is, and how much “abuse” it will take)

First - does anyone “get” what I’m getting at here? And any advice as to how I might find a blanket source… Or even another web forum that would be appropriate to ask?

Thank you

Hi JackBauer,

As I know you’re already aware, I don’t have too much expertise with blankets and they’re not the focus of the forum (perhaps there are other more knowledgeable members here who can provide some assistance), but…

While it is related mostly to sheets, post #7 here and some of the links it contains may help to point you in a good direction. Post #26 here has links to quite a few companies who carry sheets and blankets, and perhaps some of these companies carry blankets that similar to what you desire.

Is this acrylic blanket from the Vermont Country store like what you are looking for? If so, here are some ideas. These remind me of the blankets I had as a child and they may be more like what you are trying to find.

You gave me the magic word… Acrylic.

That did it… Found some blankets made more for hotels, by JS Fiber. I have them now, we’ll see if they match the blanket I’ve had for 17 years

Thank you!

Hi JackBauer,

I was hoping that was what you were looking for. I hope that the blankets turn out just as you remember them from years ago.
