I typically don’t post on forums or ask many questions. However from some quick browsing and ghosting through this one, everyone seems very helpful. The information gained already has been pretty mind-blowing. So giving a post a shot.
My Girlfriend and I just moved into a new beautiful home. We are now working on upgrading our very old and not so beautiful furniture. First up on the list is a 7+ year old queen-sized bed that just isn’t big enough for two people and two cats who are quite sure they are people.
After reading up on beds from Amazon and this site I have decided on a likely candidate:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0091WM7CW/ref=cm_sw_su_dp
Ultimate Dreams 13" Gel Memory Foam Mattress
First off, we are debating between a King sized and a California King sized. The prices look to be even on Amazon. Does anyone have a recommendation between the two? I have almost no idea what the difference is to be honest.
Any other opinions or input on that bed in specific? This is a large purchase for us and our savings are running a bit low, so want to get this right so we have an amazing bed for the years to come. We work seperate schedules so the ability to get in and out of bed without bothering each other is a huge perk for this mattress.
Next up, does anyone know of any frames or headboards they’d recommend to go with it? I’m currently looking at this:
https://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Master-Platform-Foundation-California/dp/B006MIWHUU/
As I’m a slightly larger man and have a history of breaking more fragile frames. However it’s somewhat ugly and a tough sale for the lady. She wants something pretty from Ikea, however I think the slated wood base could break and isn’t good for this type of mattress anyways. This is what she wants:
Any other advice in general is greatly appreciated.
Last thing mattress related is I’m picking this up as a cover:

From what I’ve read it’s really the best/only choice. I’m completely new to this though.
Thanks again to anyone who helps. It really is deeply appreciated.
