Adjustable bed pillow and lumbar adjustment feature

Hi all,

I’m in the market for an electric adjustable bed and had a question about the pillow and lumbar adjustment features available with beds like the Leggett and Platt Prodigy LBR. I guess these features must be optimized for a person of a certain height. Do they become useless if a person is above or below a height range? My wife and I are on the shorter side, between 5’6" and 5’9", and I wonder if the pillow adjustment would end up below our heads and therefore not effective. Thanks!

I know Malouf makes the Malouf S755 and Malouf M855 that offer a plethora of Head, Foot, Lumbar and a ton of other features.

The Rize Contempory IV offers similar multiple area features.

The Yawnder 5 and 6 Yawnder 6 has similar features. Yawnder 5 demo Yawnder 5 video

I am fairly certain @TheCleanBedroom offers the upgraded Malouf models. As does a few other Trusted Members.
Hopefully, one of the trusted members will chime in and address any more detailed questions you may have regarding your adjustable foundation questions.

All the best,

Maverick

Hello Fug,

We recently set up the Tempur-Pedic Ergo 3 adjustable base with adjustable Lumbar support included.

Our heights are 5’5" & 5’9". All features work fine for us. Most used options are raised head with lumbar support for TV viewing or reading and Zero G for relaxation periods. We seldom use the massage feature. It’s hardly noticeable through a 14" mattress. Since we are both side sleepers, we raise the lumbar support about 1" which improves lower back comfort for us while sleeping.

We chose the Tempur-Pedic because it’s only 3.7" height and fits inside/flush with our bedframe. Only the mattress is visible.

We’re satisfied with it.

Yes, we do have both the Malouf and Leggett adjustable beds. The Malouf 755 has the lumbar support too.

Are you referring to the pillow tilt or the head raise feature? We haven’t had any complaints about either of those not working for shorter people, but if you call to discuss options or place an order, they can address that concern. The staff have plenty of experience with both those lines of the adjustable beds.

I’m not sure what the difference is between pillow tilt and head raise. When you say head raise, are you referring to the bed tilt that raises the whole upper body?

Yes, the head raise lifts the whole upper body. The pillow tilt would just tilt the head from the neck. The pillow tilt is usually only available on upper-end models.

Okay, then yes I was asking about the pillow tilt. Because when the head of the bed is elevated, a person’s waist would be at the pivot point between the upper and lower sections of the bed. Then when you raise the pillow, if a person was too short the pivot point for the pillow tilt might be above their head. What is the typical distance between those two pivot points?

Hi again! I spoke to the manager, who’s been selling adjustable beds for years/decades - he said he has not ever run into someone having it be too short.
