Hello there,
This is a great site with a lot of information. I purchased a pure LatexBLISS Nature mattress in early 2014. It has been a great mattress and is used directly on the floor. Over the last year I have been recovering from a back injury and started noticing that when I was away and slept on a firmer mattress my pains would be less the following day.
I have gone through a lot of information on this site and I realise that it is hard to make a mattress firmer as opposed to softer. Since I have it already on the floor to provide the most firm support possible, I was wondering if I could flip the mattress and use it. I understand this isn’t designed to be flipped or rotated but was wondering if it would end up causing any harm?
At some point if a firmer mattress is what I need I will have to end up getting a new mattress but was hoping to get a bit more mileage out of this.
Thanks for your help!
Hi banjo,
I’m sorry to hear about your back injury.
Yes, you certainly can do this and it would have been my recommendation to test. You can even unzip your covering and rearrange it so that the textured side is on the bottom to make it a bit more comfortable for you. You’ll be sleeping on the core, which is 36 ILD, instead of your old top layer which was 21 ILD. Of course, all of the layers of the mattress work together, but this certainly will be an inexpensive way to achieve a firmer feel with your current mattress, and it may be that you end up liking this configuration.
I’ll be interested in learning about your results.

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll keep you posted!
Hey banjo:
I’ve had some of my customers flip over their PTB mattresses, sometimes when they have an injury and need a firmer comfort for a period of time, and I’ve received good responses from them when they’ve done this. I hope it works out well for you too.
