Hey TMU,

Im a guy, 5ft 11in, 225 pounds, 90% back sleeper, 10% side sleeper. Looking to buy Cal King size. I have a 18 year old Tempurpedic Deluxe from a long time ago. I do love Tempurpedic mattresses and I felt that the Luxe Adapt Firm is amazing.

I basically have this down to Tempurpedic Luxe Adapt Firm (Usually $4800, but can buy from a friend for $2000) vs Aireloom M1 Luxetop Luxury Firm… I tried Aireloom M1 Luxetop Luxury Firm. This mattress felt really amazing. The “pillowtop” seems quite luxurious, and the springs seem quite supportive. It seems like it supports the lower back quite nicely. The M1 Luxetop Luxury Firm is a good bit firmer than M1 Luxetop Plush.

My question is how durable is the tufted "pillow top? My BMI is 31.8. My butt did not sink too far down into the mattress. I know it has a layer of latex in it and microcoils in there and a bit of polyfoam. I can get a deal on it $4800 (normally $7200). I dont know the ILD of the latex. I do know that the mattress does feel amazing and feels supportive.

Im also wonder if that “tufted pillowtop” will start to show body impressions. Im wondering if it will shift.

How durable are micro coils? Are microcoils a legit support material?

Is there another cheaper mattress that feels a lot like Aireloom? Saatva Classic Luxury Firm.

We’d need to know the detailed specs of the mattress to be able to tell you. If you have those on hand we’d be happy to evaluate.

We have a resource here with out recommendations for durable materials for BMIs over 30.

Microcoils have a high level of resilience and point elasticity and so like latex or HR polyfoam can provide support to the recessed areas of the body that are not in direct contact with the support layers of the mattress. They are also more durable and less prone to body impressions than the lower quality foams that are so often used in mattresses.
