The standard height of 9 inches is too way too high. Between the platform, the adjustable base and the mattress, we’ll need a ladder to climb into bed. All I really want is to be able to raise the head of the bed for health reasons.
Mattress Genie sounds perfect but I saw a number of concerns about it deflating (or evening popping). along with uneven inflation depending on the weight of two sleepers. Is there anything else like it that is of higher quality?
http://www.axelbloom.com/los-angeles-beds/ has some adjustable (tension and position and motorized or not) that are very low profile and can be adjusted in many ways both for tension and for position. They can be dropped in like a foundation on bedframes that have a side rail with a ledge and a center beam. some of their manual models are a little less costly and they also have some motorized models that aren’t on their website where the mechanism doesn’t go below the frame and can be used on a solid surface platform or on the floor.
Ikea also used to have some that were similar to this both motorized and non motorized (here is an example) but they don’t seem to carry them any more.
They have some interesting multizoned two sided designs with cutouts and memory foam inserts that you see more often in Europe. The polyfoam is about 2.2 - 3.1 lbs so it is high quality but the memory foam is only 2.5 lbs which is lower density than I would personally consider except in very thin layers (or as an insert). The latex version is also high quality 7 zoned material. Of course this says nothing about how suitable they may be for your body type and sleeping style in terms of PPP.
So I would call them “interesting” but not particularly good value in terms of the materials.
