5’7" M 190 side sleeper.
I liked these 2 the most in the showroom. I see layers on both their websites, but they don’t call out densities or ILD or anything useful. Do we know how these mattress break in or their lifespan? You can speak technically as I am experienced in DIY or just your experience.
OH, the beautyrest sure looks like it has a lot of memory foam. Does it sleep hot?

I know this isn’t what you asked but beauty rest is so overpriced in my opinion. If you look through the options on here you could probably find an amazing bed for a cheap price

Between the two, I’d lean toward the Black Diamond Hybrid. I’m not a huge fan of foam-encased edge support around the coils either and both mattresses use them, but in the Diamond (a 14" mattress) it appears to be used more for perimeter edge coil stability rather than replacing the function of the coil unit. The coils still have room to do their job, and that usually translates into better long-term support.
The Series 2 Plush has a very comfortable feel, but at 16.25" tall (depending on which version 15.25 - 16.25") it appears to rely more heavily on thicker foam comfort layers to create that luxury feel. Without knowing the actual foam densities, that’s the area I would be watching most closely for long-term durability, especially at 190 lbs. Softer upper foams are typically what break down first, and while they provide the pressure relief and plush feel people love, they can also soften over time and affect alignment. This seems to be a common complaint when you read reviews on line regarding the number series of BeautyRest.
The foam encasement is worth revisiting to understand what it does and why it matters. The edge support foam on the BR is approximately 8" deep and 4" wide, so, on a king you are potentially reducing the active coil support area from 76" to around 68" of width. On a queen, that could reduce the coil-supported area from 60" to approximately 52". It may not be a deal breaker, but it does mean a larger portion of the edge of the mattress relies on the perimeter foam rather than the coil system for support.
The Diamond Hybrid available through @yawnder would be my pick. It provides the pressure relief a side sleeper needs while allowing the support system to handle more of the workload, rather than relying as heavily on multiple inches of foam for long-term support.
I wouldn’t put too much weight on the warranty since warranties are rarely a true measure of mattress durability, but it is interesting that the Diamond carries a 20-year warranty compared to the Beautyrest Black’s 10-year warranty. That alone doesn’t prove one mattress is built better, but it does suggest Diamond is more confident in the construction and long-term performance of their product.
