Beautyrest Harmony Lux Carbon Series vs. Sealy Posturepedic Plus Level II Satisfied vs. Doctor's Choice Elite

Hello,

We are shopping for a new mattress and have done a lot of research over the past few weeks. Articles, videos, laying on beds all around town. We have narrowed it down to the 3.

-Beautyrest Harmony Lux Carbon Series Medium
-Sealy Posturepedic Plus Satisfied Level II Medium
-Doctor’s Choice Elite Medium

While I know a mattress is highly subjective and individualized…does anyone have any experience with any of these? Particularly their durability and quality of materials?
For reference, they are all in the $1700-$2000 range (King size), so I would think the quality of materials is a little better…I would think, anyway.

From a personal comfort level, we liked all of these…but obviously want something that will last a while.

TIA

Hi inquisitive and welcome to the Mattress Underground

Keep in mind any mattress you choose will be based on your Stats (height, BMI, sleeping position(s) and any underlying health conditions) and your PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and Personal preferences). Without those, it’s almost impossible to assess the suitability or durability of any mattress for your sleep profile.
As you can see by comparing the Mattress Specifications You Need To Know to the Mattress Durability Guidelines memory foam, especially if insufficient density can ‘break down’ prematurely leaving ‘ridges’ and ‘valleys’ which can cause aches, pains and even alignment issues…We suggest any foam in a potential mattress has no more than an inch or so of lower grade foams (for memory foam no lower than 4 lbs/cuft for normal range weights, and 5lbs/cuft for higher range weights) and if polyfoam is used, with at least 1.8 lbs/cuft density, just to ensure you have support.

The 3 mattresses you listed are all high profile foam hybrids, and, as with many of the ‘big brands’ the composition of their materials is obscured with copyrighted names and therefore also make it hard to assess how supportive or durable they may be. They may be comfortable for you, which is great, but with those price points if they only last a few years they won’t be such a good deal. Without specific densities, all these foams are questionable in both the ability to support any given sleeper as well as having unknown durability; these have major red flags for me, personally.

If you are interested in foam hybrids, many of the Trusted Members of the site carry various models and configurations, with proven quality in construction, transparency of materials and components and generous exchange and return policies…if you can provide them with your Stats, PPP and mattress history, they can assist you in finding a sleep solution that’s comfortable and will hold up over time, like DLX, BioSleep Concept, Custom Sleep Technology, Mattress To Go as well as GhostBed and Nest Bedding which are carried in some areas by stores like macys target, Walmart and some home improvement chains.

Keeping the Mattress Specification and Durability guidelines in mind as you shop, and you will be better situated to find a great new mattress that’s supportive as well as durable. We wish you success on your journey!
