Bed frame and foundation for Naturepedic EOS

Hi,

I’m looking to get the Naturepedic EOS Classic in a king size. I’ve saved my budget for getting the mattress, so ideally I’d like to go with a cheaper bed frame. What are your thoughts about the IKEA Malm series? Would it be sufficient support for this mattress? I was thinking of getting either the “Luroy” or “Lonset” slatted bed base.

Thanks in advance,

Danny

Hi dannylibs,

The EOS does use good quality and durable materials, and I’m glad you’ve saved up, as it can be in a bit of a higher price range for some individuals. I’m glad you’ve found something that you like. :cheer:

Regarding the Ikea bed sets, we’ve had members go measure the spacing between their slats and it is around 3", which would work with the requirements recommended by most latex mattress retailers. The one thing you would want to monitor would be the condition of the laminated slats used here, as over time there can be a situation where they may begin to become concave, so keep an eye on those. The EOS is a heavy mattress, but I don’t see any weight limitations listed on the Ikea site, so you may wish to contact them just to see if they have a recommendation for this. Finally, before placing your order I would speak with Naturepedic just to make sure that using the Ikea base wouldn’t impact your warranty (I didn’t find anything in their warranty that would cause an issue, but it is always best to double-check with the manufacturer).

Is the SMARTHOUSE mattress comparable to the EOS Classic Naturepedic?

Hi Mima18,

Thanks for the post. I took a quick look at the Smarthouse mattress and they do not list any information on the specifications of the components within the mattress. I would suggest you call or email them and ask for the specifications, especially the density and/or ILD of the natural latex, how many layers, the thickness of layers, and what is the difference between plush and firm? (see See the mattress specifications you need to know article ). If you can list the specifics of the layers inside one of their mattresses you are considering then I’d be happy to make some comments about the quality of the materials inside it or whether it has any obvious weak links in terms of durability.

With this information, we’d also be able to compare them appropriately.

hi danny. wondering what you ended up with? was just looking at the lonset too. was going to just set it atop an old boxspring that doesn’t have the needed support for the naturepedic springs. wondering how those bowed slats impact things. i have a king mattress, so there’d be a double set of bows and curious if the curvature travels through or not.

thx, db
