We tried a naturepedic pillow top. The spec we liked best were firm coils, med/soft latex for Mr, firm/soft for Mrs. We liked the mattress, it wasn’t like heavenly or anything, but was comfortable.
We live 2 hours from Beloit. Their heirloom pillow top looks comparable to me. It’s also a family business and a trusted partner here, which I like. But I don’t want to buy it sight unseen, and it’s a bit of a hike. The nice thing about the EOS is we could have different latex on each side, and could swap out layers. I don’t think either are options on the Beloit that I can see.
Can anyone tell me how the quality of components in the Beloit compares with naturepedic? Are they a similar quality level, or is one a step up over the other?
Stats: Mr is 6’3” 215 lbs side/stomach. Hot sleeper.
Mrs is 5’7” 140 lbs side/back. Neutral temp.
We can customize the latex to be different on each side, but we don’t recommend it for two reasons. First, it creates an uncomfortable transition in the middle of the mattress that’s noticeably disruptive. Second, you’re required to rotate the mattress—once a month for the first six months, then every three months thereafter. This means you and your spouse would need to switch sides each time you rotate, which could be inconvenient.
Regarding material comparisons, I’m not familiar with who supplies Naturepedic’s materials, so I can’t comment on their quality. However, we pride ourselves on transparency. If you let me know which materials you’re curious about, I’d be happy to provide all the details. We manufacture our own spring systems, and we consider them a step above industry standards like Leggett & Platt, Hickory Springs, or Texas Pocket Springs. We’ve used their products in the past, but none met our standards for consistency and sizing—that’s why we now make our own. Our latex is 100% natural, and we believe its quality is unmatched. There are a few other brands we’d consider comparable, but none we think are better; otherwise, we’d be using them instead.
I know a two-hour drive might feel like a trek, but in terms of our customers, you’re practically around the corner! Just this morning, I had a customer in our store from Michigan. Our team is delivering to someone today who visited us a couple of weeks ago from just outside the Twin Cities. The furthest someone has traveled specifically to shop for a mattress with us was a man from Colorado. Investing a little time to ensure you sleep well for years is absolutely worth it. I completely agree that buying sight unseen isn’t ideal—purchasing based solely on descriptions is tough. Seemingly minor details, like the type of fabric on top, the assembly method, or how the layers are attached (or not attached, in some cases), can dramatically affect the feel of a mattress, even if the materials are similar.
