Berkeley Ergonomics - which model to choose?

Greetings all:
I’m trying to decide between two models of Berkeley Ergo mattresses:
There is a difference in type, number and pattern of coils. Looks like 1st one you sink in more with hips/shoulders. Second one, on the other hand may provide more orthopedic support. How to decide which one is better for a side sleeper with neuropathic pain without having ability to try them? Phoenix, would really appreciate your prof opinion. (Berkeley Ergo was not much help)

Hi Intltraveler,

Unfortunately nobody else can feel what you feel on a mattress and there are too many unknowns, variables, and personal preferences involved for anyone to know which mattress would be the best match for you in terms of PPP (Posture and alignment, Pressure relief, and Personal preferences) based on specs (either yours or a mattress) or theory (see mattress firmness/comfort levels in post #2 here).

There is more about the different ways to choose a mattress and how to reduce the risks involved with each of them in post #2 here.

If you can test a mattress in person then your own careful and objective testing using the testing guidelines in the tutorial post would have the best chance of success.

If you can’t test a mattress in person before a purchase then a more detailed conversation with an online retailer or manufacturer that can help “talk you through” which of the options they have available would have the best chance of success based on the “averages” of their customers that are similar to you will be your best source of guidance.

If you aren’t confident or clear about your choices after a conversation then the exchange or return options after a purchase would become much more important part of the “value” of your purchase so that you can use your actual sleeping experience to decide whether a mattress is a suitable choice and still have good options available just in case you choose a mattress that isn’t as suitable for you as you hoped for.

There is also more about the most important parts of the “value” of a mattress purchase in post #13 here that can help you make more meaningful comparisons between mattresses but none of the Berkeley Ergonomics mattresses have any lower quality materials or weak links in their design so it will really come down to which mattress you believe would be most suitable for you and that you would sleep best on (based on your local testing and/or conversations) along with the options you have available after your purchase to make changes to the mattress or exchange or return it if your sleeping experience indicates that you need to.
