I am a side sleeper, 160lbs, looking for a queen-size talalay latex hybrid mattress. What brands/models do you recommend? What should the range of the ILD be for a side sleeper?
Thank you.
Hi Newmexico,
Thanks for reaching out! At the Mattress Underground, we prioritize the quality of materials over specific brand recommendations. That said, our Trusted Members (the vendors, suppliers, and retailers) are top experts in the industry when it comes to latex, latex mattresses, and latex hybrid mattresses.
Our TMs are known for their transparency about product details, the quality of their materials, and their commitment to excellent customer service.
Given your weight of 160 lbs, a medium Talalay latex with an ILD in the 28 range should be a good fit, though this can vary slightly depending on the manufacturer’s specifications for their medium firmness.
You have the choice between a DIY mattress or a pre-engineered option. For example, the Luxerion Hybrid from @Latex_Mattress_Fact1 and the Ultimate Hybrid from @Arizona_Premium both fit within your budget. Both TMs offer pre-built mattresses and also provide DIY options, allowing you to adjust the layers at home for customized comfort.
Keep in mind, you are not just purchasing a mattress as part of you sleep system. Be careful to choose a foundation that properly supports any mattress combination you choose as the foundation is a crucial piece of the complete comfort and longevity puzzle when making a new sleep system. Even the mattress protector and sheet set choices will play a role in the performance of your mattress.
While almost every TM on the list offers latex choices, the couple mentioned have options in your budget.
There are also options from on-line retailers like ecosleep and birch that have a nice selection of latex hybrids within your budget as well, although they may not offer the flexibility and personalized attention that you might find with the TMs here at TMU.
So hopefully this is a start in the right direction. If you have any questions you would like to address to a specific TM, just use the @symbol as a prefix to their name and it will alert them to respond.
Good luck on your search, you truly have a lot of choices.
Maverick
Would a medium Talalay latex work with the APM’s bolsa coils? Or should I consider the soft latex topper? Thank you.
