I had my naturepedic all coil (EOS) mattress on a wood frame for awhile. The slats were 3 inches wide and 3 inches apart which was recommended but the mattress felt saggy.
I then tried (at the company’s suggestion) to add a piece of wood between the slats and the mattress, but this didn’t help much.
So, now second time around, wondering, if anyone has thoughts/ experience with the following-
Might flexible slats work better for this mattress? or would it make the bed feel even saggier?
what about getting a frame with closer together slats like 2 inches apart? Any distance that you think might be more supportive?
This depends on what you want to feel when you’re on the mattress. If you want a bouncy, buoyant, floating feel then the flexible slats could be a good choice. If you’re looking for a flatter, firmer feel with less bounce, then slats that are closer together or even a platform base would be more suitable for your preferences.
Yes, generally speaking, the closer the slats are together, the “firmer” the feel you’re going to get from your mattress.
If you place the mattress on the floor, are you still feeling like there is “sag” while lying down? If so, your issue is not with the foundation but rather the integrity of the mattress.
describe the sagginess feel? my eos felt saggy, so did the same as you and upgraded my slats and still felt saggy. in despiration I took apart my mattress to make sure I had the support coils in right… brown strip running around the perimeter… they were in right. then I took off the casing on the support coils and poked a hole in the pockets on each side and discovered they had put the friggen cove on backwards. so I flipped those guys around and it instantly fixed the saggy feeling.
back to the slats… I just built my own… bought a bunch ig 1x4’s and a roll of burlap strapping and some stainless staples for my staple gun. cut them to size and rounded the corners on the top and bottom boards… slats with plenty of support.
