I am about 300 pounds and currently sleeping on a Zinus mattress, When we first got it, it was great but as time has progressed, the sink hole is killing me. I wake uo every morning sore. The sink hole stays that way now and just gets worse. So what are my options - I am a side sleeper who then rolls to back sleep. Wife is side sleep for the most part. I have a Golden Mattress near me in Dallas so I can go to a local retailer for those. I just need to make sure it is made with quality coils and quality foam if I have to have foam topper. There is also a place called Texas Mattress Factory where I think they will build a mattress.
Hi ricker10, and welcome to the Mattress UnderGround. We are happy to have you here and thanks for your question.
Given your plus sized stature, and a side sleeper, you may benefit from a professionally fit mattress. Just keep in mind, that your bedding system does not stop at your mattress. As a side sleeper, if you have broader shoulders, you will want to investigate higher loft pillows, which support and structure, and the unsung hero of the bedding system, your foundation. As a plus sized sleeper you are going to want be certain your foundation is sturdy, rigid and with little flex at all. Some mattresses you may find at local custom craft showrooms, may include retro made innerspring mattresses with active spring box springs. Nothing wrong with that, but they will off a different ride that a mattress sitting on a platform.
Overall, you may be better served by visiting a place such as Texas Mattress Factory, where they may be able to custom-craft a mattress that checks all of your preference boxes. That said, after reviewing their website, there doesn’t appear to be a great deal of detailed information available. At The Mattress Underground, we take pride in the fact that our Trusted Members are and must be, fully transparent.
In your case, you have a great opportunity to work with a Trusted Member, @Mattress-Factory-TX, located in the Fort Worth area and in business since 1896. They also manufacture their own mattresses and can and will build a mattress specifically tailored to provide the support and comfort you need. On top of that, you have the added benefit of working with a Trusted Member of The Mattress Underground right in your own backyard.
As another option, especially given your experience with Zinus, a better experience in that genre, you may also want to consider the Helix Plus or Titan Plus Elite mattresses. Both offer durable spring support layers combined with HD foams, trial test periods and easy to order on line and shipped to your door, of if you prefer showrooms like @yawnder offer white glove service and TMU subscriber promotions.
At the end of the day, there are characteristics that of materials that matter. Densities, gauges, natural verses synthetic materials and they all are an important factor in how the mattress and bedding system will perform in the short term and long.
Hope this helps you on your mattress journey.
