After MUCH research I finally bought a latex mattress - SleepEZ 10" King 100% botanical Dunlop latex mattress. The manufacturer is Latex Green. There are 3 layers which go from (top to bottom) soft/medium/firm (ILD’s not listed). The bed foundation is a brand new platform bed frame. It’s been less than 2 months and it’s already sagging! There is about a 1/4 inch indentation (I tried to attach a picture, but the button is not working). I am 5’7", 130 lbs. I am a side/back sleeper. Is this normal??
It’s possible that there could be a sag in the foundation under your mattress but your mattress has a wool quilted cover and wool will compress about 30% or so of it’s thickness over time and then will compress much less and more slowly and remain resilient after that so this is a much more likely cause of the slight impressions. If you spend some time sleeping on the different areas of the mattress surface this will even out toi some degree as the parts you use less will also compress but they will take a little longer. Unlike foam … wool becomes firmer as it compresses so any slight initial compression wouldn’t represent the same risk for alignment as would be the case with foam softening because you will still sink into the wool the same amount when it is more lofted as you will when it is more compressed. This is a completely normal process for wool quilting or layers of wool.
The help tab here has some suggestions about attachments but if none of them help then you can send me the image and I will attach it to your post for you.
Thanks for your prompt reply! I opened website in IE (instead of Chrome) and the Attachments feature works. See picture for indentation. It is the latex layer itself, not the wool cover.
Your picture isn’t clear and I can’t see any obvious sagging but if you want to check the latex then you would need to put it on the floor and put a straight edge or tight string across the surface and then measure any impressions from the straight edge or the string. This would eliminate all the other possible causes of any sagging issues in the latex (either under or over the mattress).
I believe that the criteria that SleepEZ uses is 1/4" in a layer (although you would need to check with them) so if there is more than this I would call them to talk about exchanging the layer.
