It feels too firm after I’ve been asleep for awhile… (I’m a female side-sleeper). Do you recommend that we place ion the floor and crawl around on it? Anything else that you recommend to help “break it in”? Or do I simply need to be patient? :S
I read on your site that the quilted cover also needs time to relax…
It’s been quite a while since I’ve seen you on the forum and I forgot to mention when you posted a couple of weeks ago to welcome you back
I spent some time going over some of your older posts and you were certainly involved in some very interesting topics.
I’m somewhat surprised that you are once again considering latex after your earlier experience. I know your allergy tests for a type 1 allergy came back negative but did you ever find out the reason for your reaction?
I’m also curious about the mattress you ended up buying in the second round of your research.
In any case … it’s perfectly fine to walk or crawl evenly over the entire surface of the topper over the course of the first week or so to help speed up the break in period. You can do this with the topper on the floor or on top of the mattress although if your current mattress has an innerspring then I wouldn’t walk on it and I would only crawl.
I don’t know the ILD of the latex topper you purchased but hopefully it will be a good “match” for you in combination with your mattress in terms of comfort, firmness, and PPP but the only way to know for sure will be based on your experience on the mattress/topper combination over the course of the next few weeks.
Thank you for the advice! And the warm welcome back to the forum
It has been a winding road, but I am now happy with latex as long as it is covered. My reaction is only topical, so it seems to work well. (We ended up buying a gently used
Royal-Pedic.)
Still benefitting from TMU after three years~thank you!!!
