Brooklyn Bedding - Review of my experience

Several weeks ago I decided to purchase a mattress from Brooklyn Bedding based on reviews and advice I found on this site. I contacted Mario at Brooklyn Bedding and he helped me pick out an appropriate mattress for my 8yr old son. I ended up with the Cool PT series (full size), Simple Life foundation, bed frame, two shredded latex pillows and mattress cover for around $700. Great price, I think. Mario was helpful and easy to reach via phone and chat.

Since placing my order their customer service has been great. They answer emails within 24hr (sometimes sooner) and are readily available via chat through their website.

The mattress, frame, pillows and mattress cover were delivered yesterday, approximately 13 days after I placed my order. The foundation hasn’t arrived yet. :frowning: I can’t imagine why they would ship the pieces separately. According to my tracking information the foundation wasn’t shipped until 5 days after the other items. Oh well.

While I can’t comment on the mattress just yet… it is still shrink wrapped and awaiting the arrival of the foundation… I do have a few comments on the shredded latex pillows that were included in my order. They smell horrendous!! There is a very strong and distinct smell. I know their products are Oeko Tex certified and CertiPur-US Certified but the smell still concerns me, especially since the pillows are for my child. Even if there is no health risk the smell makes the pillows unusable. Airing the pillows for 24hrs on a covered porch did not help so I’m planning to leave them out there a few more days. Brooklyn Bedding recommended Febreeze. Besides the smell, the pillows feel very nice and the removable pillow covers are lovely and very soft.

I am anxious to assemble the mattress and will be back with a full report once the foundation arrives…

The smell fades after a couple of weeks…at least it did to my nose.

Hi svs28,

Thanks for the update … and I hope you have the chance to add another one once you’ve had the chance to sleep on the mattress

As jeffmoody mentioned … the smell of the latex will fade over the first few weeks. You may have had a batch that was “fresh out of the shredder”.
