I need to buy a new mattress, but it’s very likely that I’ll need to relocate in four years after I finish my degree. Therefore, I don’t want to invest in a pricey mattress since it’s unlikely I’ll move it, but I also don’t want a poor quality mattress since I will be using it for several years. The only reason I’m buying a new one is because I want to upgrade from a Full to a Queen. While the Dreamfoam mattress has been good to me so far, I question how durable it will be in the long run - I’ve only been using it for a year. Will this mattress hold for four years? If not are there any recommendations on affordable mattresses for this unique situation? I want to keep it under $450.
With your particular application for a shorter time frame, my initial inclination would be to advise you to stick with what you like. The innerspring unit used in the Dreamfoam mattress you currently have should easily last the time frame that you need. The only potential issue would be the foam comfort materials used, as being a lower priced item there is less overall foam and the density wouldn’t be as high as a mattress using more premium materials, but you’re not expecting this product to last 10 years. Additionally, with this item being two-sided, you may flip the product over frequently to help extend the comfort life of the mattress. So I would see no compelling reason to switch from what you already have tried and liked.
If you want to investigate other inexpensive options, I did a quick look through the site members (I may have missed a few) and Dreamfoam, Nest Bedding, Addable, Flexus and Sedona Sleep all have less expensive options.
