Cats (scratching) and possible Latex Bed issue

Hi All,

My wife and I are looking at a latex bed and our biggest concern is the cats scratching; how will they affect the bed by scratching?

Cutting into a mattress, whether by pets or humans, is undesirable and not recommended.

OK, so what are people experience with cats and their scratching of latex beds? Presently, our cats scratch the box spring - support portion of our regular bed, kinda ugly, but who cares… but what could happen if they do the same to the latex which has a wood frame?

Hi rodip,

You’re asking the same question as in your first post, and I’m not sure what the point is of this inquiry. If your cat decides to use your mattress as a scratching post, it will rip through the covering into the foam. This is an obvious deduction. I’m not aware of any particular affinity cats have for scratching latex mattresses, nor has this been a topic of discussion on the forum. If you have a more specific question, let me know.
