I need some info on an older model Chatham & wells mattress. The model name was Bernadette, and I’m trying to find a new model that is comparable with same features.
Hi Carla1,
Welcome to The Mattress Underground.
That is a tall order you are asking as that model is over 15 years old.
There really is not much information on the C&W mattress model you are referring to. The best that I could find is that is was a very firm mattress and may have been a C&W specifically made for Sleepy’s Mattress.
Sleepy’s was acquired by Mattress Firm in December 2015 and all stores were rebranded under the Mattress Firm name on January 1, 2017.
I suppose you could contact C&W directly. They are a division of Spring Air.
Sorry I could not be more help. Perhaps the fact that it was a firmer mattress may help in your search for a new one. The issues you may run into, as with all the “S” brand mattresses, is their formulations have changed over the years. Not necessarily in a positive way. C&W make some beautiful mattresses. Some with great natural materials including horsehair, one of my favorite mattress and pillow materials.
These two are luxury firms, probably close to what you had, but only speculation on my part.
They do have two firm models, but again hard to compare to something that we have no information on.

Hi Norm! Thank you so much for your quick response and all info! It’s more than I’ve been able to find after days & weeks of research! I was actually looking at the Windsor, firmness looks good. I’ve bought and returned 4 mattresses in the past 6 months. Am having severe back pain-have sleeping on the couch for the last week and the fact that it would be a firmer mattress is very helpful. Would you recommend that I go with Chatham & Wells or another brand? I’m looking for a firm mattress with a softer pillowtop with no “bounce”. There are so many out there and so many different types my head is spinning! If you have any recommendations I could really use the advice(?)Thanks again!
Kind regards
