Cheap foundation for latex - no tools required

Thanks to this site I found the bed that we now love - a spindle mattress. Next we needed a new queen foundation and did not like the prices so we went super cheap and easy. How cheap? Under $80! This is not for everyone, but we like being lower to the floor.

Parts:

6 pieces of 4"X4"X10’ untreated wood - I had them cut at the local store in 5’ sections to cover a queen. It was $55 if I remember right.
4 meters of 60" burlap - I got this for under $20 shipped

I laid the burlap on the floor and put down the 12 5’ pieces spaced 3" apart on top. I used two 3" wide objects to space them out evenly like railroad tracks. Once the wood was down I wrapped the remaining burlap.

Downsides:
Stubbed toes
If your floor creaks so will your bed
It is heavy and a lot to move

Hi bnerd,

Welcome to the Mattress Forum!

Thanks for sharing. That’s certainly one way to get your mattress off of the floor without any tools!
