Child's Echo mattress from My Green Mattress

Just wanted to post about my experience with My Green Mattress so far, for those who may be looking for a toxic free, reasonably priced coil mattress for children. I am replacing my two twin mattresses for my young children, and researched the options out there. Not much available in the under $500 range for twins! We wanted something non-toxic, but could not justify 1k for a mattress that would likely only take us into the teen years when we assume the kids will want or need larger beds.

We looked at European Sleep Designs, just as we did for our CK sized bed, and although their child’s mattresses are reasonably priced at $399 and made of high quality materials, we once again found that their shipping and tax costs for us made them a less perfect option in terms of our personal value equation. Plus, the delivery time of 4 weeks was less ideal.

I called My Green Mattress, and was immediately impressed with Tim’s customer service. We discussed the options, sourcing of the mattress components, and every single question I had regarding our needs. The mattresses are well priced at $359 for a Pure Echo 2-sided twin (minus the 5%. MU discount).

I was happy to order from this small business where everything but the staples are sourced in the US, and look forward to reviewing the mattresses once received. Thanks again, Phoenix!

Hi rovo,

Like you … I think very highly of Tim and his knowledge along with the quality and value of the mattresses he sells.

Congratulations on your new mattresses … I think you made a great choice and I’m looking forward to your feedback once you’ve received them.

Hate leaving negative reviews but my experience with this company so far has been pure hell and I have not even gotten my mattress yet.
This review is strictly for customer service. I ordered my mattress on June 2nd. I added a custom to the mattress so it is understandable to have a few extra days of processing. I live 200 miles away and 1 day Fedex ground service. My mattress shipped on June 8th and they require a signature upon delivery which is fine, I was finally able to take a day off on June 10th so I can catch Fedex and sign for it. The night before I had an opportunity for someone to haul away my old mattress for free so I did, Wednesday Fedex brings the mattress and it is ripped, I understand, this happens and is beyond the company;s control. I called them immediately and told them that I refused delivery. They were nice and said: sorry. we will get the replacement put to you right away. I had nothing to sleep on at this point. Thursday comes and no tracking info. I call and I am told that by the time that got around to it, it was too late to ship. It did not ship Thursday either so I call again Friday and I am told that my mattress is sitting there ready to be picked up by Fedex but guess what, I called today (Saturday) and my mattress did not ship…
I have been sleeping on the floor for 4 days.

Hi krivbas,

I switched your post to a new topic of its own so it wouldn’t get mixed in with another members topic and comments.

Thanks for your feedback and I’m sorry to hear about your experiences with your deliveries but in all fairness what you are describing may be more of a FedEx issue than an issue with the customer service with Quality Sleep / My Green Mattress. I know them well enough to know that they would be just as frustrated with an unhappy customer and with a damaged or delayed delivery as you are. There are many manufacturers and businesses in the industry that will tell you that FedEx can be difficult to deal with and that they are the underlying cause of many complaints about delivery times that a business has very little control over.

If your mattress was a custom build then by the time they knew about your damaged delivery on Wednesday they may not have had enough time to build a new mattress and have it ready by their Thursday pickup time and if it was ready for FedEx to pick up on Friday then that would be a very reasonable turnaround time for a custom mattress.

I would also keep in mind too that it can sometimes take up to 48 hours from the time a mattress is ready to be picked up for delivery (which is the point after which FedEx controls the timing) for the mattress to be picked up and scanned when it reaches the FedEx warehouse and entered into the system so that a customer has access to the tracking information.

While I can certainly understand your frustration since unfortunately you had your old mattress taken away before receiving the new one … it’s very possible that the delay may be more on the FedEx side than on the side of Quality Sleep / My Green Mattress. FedEx also doesn’t pick up on Saturdays so if they haven’t picked up your mattress yet then it wouldn’t be picked up until Monday.

On the more positive side (although I know that this won’t help you for the moment) you certainly made a very high quality/value choice and congratulations on your new mattress! I hope you have the chance to let us know when you receive it and your comments and feedback about it once you’ve had the chance to sleep on it as well.

Sometimes “stuff happens” and in spite of any “best efforts” involved in making a new mattress and replacing the one that was damaged … when a courier company controls the timing for pickup and delivery then there are times when a delivery may not happen as fast as everyone involved hopes they will.
