Choosing a mattress via a quiz Vs visiting showroom

Hi I am searching for a new mattress. I know i want an adjustable frame. I am a side and back sleeper, sleep hot and have occasional back issues. I have read some of the articles on the website and never realized how much goes into a mattress choice. I have been considering the Beloit company; I like the fact that they are a 4th generation family that make their mattresses by hand since 1929. However, I would like your opinions on selecting a mattress type based on a quiz Vs going to the showroom. The showroom is approximately 4.5 hours away; but I am off work next week.

Showroom cant be beat. But I noticed people spend 90 seconds on a mattress. I spend at least 15 minutes in my dominant position.

People get too enchanted with the initial feel.

I skip the quizzes and talk to a real person. I e heard the SleepEZ mattress configurator in 90% accurate. I assume the configurator or quiz is simply based on experience.

Id check out BackScience too. They do have a mattress quiz but you can talk to the owner Dr Rick.

Hey JaJohnson.

Welcome to our Mattress Forum.

Truth be told, nothing beats testing. Quizzes can be useful, sure, but until you have the mattress in your house and you’re able to test it…you’re not going to know for sure!

That said, we offer a lot of resources here to help you make the best decision based on your preferences and statistics. And then we encourage buyers to make sure they choose a company that has a reasonable sleep-trial and exchange/return policy.

If you’re able to get out to Beloit, that’d be pretty cool. You could also call and have a “face to face” chat about their products and which may be a best fit before you commit to a road trip.
