Comfort layer in or out?

Hi all, I am looking to do an all latex mattress.
Me: 210 - 5’10" Side Sleeper
Wife: 135 - 5’1" Side/Back Sleeper

I have only laid on a Pranasleep Dharma Select in all Talalay which was 6" firm, 3 inch of soft, with 3inches of odd foam. They also had a super cush version that was really soft adding additional unknown foam (hard to judge something soft that was still supportive coming from all memory foam). I am also not trying to replicate the mattresses just suggesting its all I found local to try.

I was originally then looking to do all Talalay 10"
Me: M/M/F
Wife: S/M/F
One thing is being recommended that the firm layer be Dunlop.

I hear so much about potentially doing the top comfort layer as a topper. I understand when in the mattress its is not a free as a topper. I am just curious experiences here. I need to decide on 10" mattress or 7"mattress (with sep 3" topper). So curious on people perspectives here along with all talalay vs a base dunlop (being more spine support). Compared to the Dharma 6inch firm moves reduces to 3inch firm, but trade 2 soft layers for 2 medium layers nothing on my side would be soft. No sure how that will play.

Thoughts?

Thank you for reaching out with your inquiries. Based on the information you’ve provided, a 10" mattress with three 3" layers is a great choice, offering optimal contouring, pressure relief, and support when configured properly for each side.

Our Organic 10" Latex Mattress features a 3" 100% Natural Talalay latex layer on top, with two 3" GOLS-certified Dunlop latex layers beneath it. Most sleepers find that a single Talalay layer on top provides sufficient contour and pressure relief, while additional Talalay layers are typically recommended for individuals with chronic conditions like fibromyalgia who need a much softer sleep surface. To ensure both of you get the best support and comfort, I recommend ordering split layers, allowing you to customize each side and adjust the layers if needed.

  • For you (210 lbs): Medium/Medium/Firm (M/M/F)
    • The medium Talalay top layer provides excellent contouring and pressure relief.
    • The medium and firm Dunlop layers offer gradual, supportive firmness.
  • For your wife (135 lbs): Soft/Medium/Firm (S/M/F)
    • The soft Talalay top layer provides the same contouring and pressure relief for her as the medium layer does for you.
    • The medium and firm Dunlop layers ensure adequate support.
